Here, the day never really begins all at once. Light gathers gradually over the hillside, birds wake in the valley, and little by little the villa stirs into the rhythm of the day.
You make coffee, settle for a moment facing the view… and time seems to slow down. An hour goes by. Sometimes two. No set plan — just time stretching out.
Breakfast between sea and jungle
The terrace is often where these mornings begin.
With 110 m² open to the surrounding nature, it was designed as a true outdoor living space. A large section, covered by a deep roof, lets you sit comfortably facing the view, even when the tropical sun is strong.
Facing east, the villa opens onto two distinct outdoor spaces — one by the pool, the other by the kitchen — that follow the light through the day. At breakfast, the outdoor table offers a unique setting: the valley ahead, the surrounding jungle, and the sea in the distance.
Thanks to the depth of the roof, the table stays sheltered from direct sun throughout the morning. There’s no need to chase the shade or move your coffee — you simply sit down, take your time, and watch the light shift across the landscape.
By the pool, the sun stays present until mid-afternoon, before gradually moving on to the second terrace, by the kitchen. This is often when mornings shift into another rhythm: a few laps before breakfast, a book on the loungers, or simply a few moments taking in the view.
Mornings that change with the seasons
From December to March, the cooler season often brings a gentle breeze from the east. Some mornings, the contrast feels almost surprising for the tropics: a hot coffee in mild air, before the heat of the day sets in. The light is clear, the hills sharply defined, and the landscape feels especially close.
A few months later, when the warm season arrives, the mood turns quieter. The breeze grows softer, the heat is already there by morning, and the pool water holds the warmth from the day before.
Some always start the day with coffee facing the view. Others prefer a swim before breakfast. Each season has its own way of living at the villa.
The sounds of a tropical wake-up
Over time, you notice that the seasons aren’t only seen. They’re heard too.
At first light, the birds are the first to make themselves heard. Among them, several small blue birds appear regularly around the terrace — often enough to become almost familiar visitors to mornings at Altura.
Then come the geckos, their calls echoing between the trees. Early in the year, cicadas accompany the hottest hours. During the rainy season, the soundscape shifts again: after a heavy tropical downpour, frogs fill the valley with their calls.
Here, silence is never really silence. It’s a blend of natural sounds that accompanies every morning.
When the rain becomes an invitation
Rainy mornings offer another way to experience the villa.
In the tropics, a downpour doesn’t necessarily mean heading inside. The terrace’s deep roof lets you stay outdoors, even as the weather shifts.
You can have breakfast, read a book, or simply watch the clouds move across the valley while the rain falls just beyond the terrace.
The air turns cooler, the jungle takes on deeper greens, and the steady sound of rain on the roof replaces the murmur of wind through the palms.
Only the rare, true storm sends everyone inside.
The luxury of slowing down
At Altura, mornings aren’t meant to be filled.
One coffee often calls for a second. A few pages become a chapter. A quick swim turns into a long stretch in the water.
